About
Here at the farm in Tilba, NSW, our family now has third generation members (and some little 4th gens) living and working on the farm. We have followed holistic principles for decades, with a passion for regenerative farming that runs in the blood. Tilba Tallow is an aspect of the farm that is only just evolving...
We are always searching for ways to make our passion for living on the land more sustainable, and to do this, we have found that the more diversity, the better. As long-time soap makers, transitioning from castile soaps to tallow based soaps has been an obvious change for us to make.
Our goal has always been to make the cleanest products possible with a focus on personal health and wellness. Sourcing clean vegetable oils for our soap bases has been a constant struggle when so much of it (we source everything in Australia) is grown in monocrops that are constantly smothered in pesticides that leach into the natural waterways and permeate just about every plant based product you can buy at scary levels.
On the other hand, we run a regenerative farm on the South Coast and we raise our own cattle! Using our own tallow as our soap base couldn't make any more sense to us as it integrates another aspect of our farming practices into our family business. Not only does it ensure we are creating a completely clean product free of the taint of chemical agriculture, but it holistically ties into our production, from growing and distilling our famous eucalyptus oil, to farming animals regeneratively to increase soil health and biodiversity, which is always our goal as a family based business.
